MICHAEL NANA KOFI ARCHER (b.1989, Ghanaian)

For the exhibition, Michael Nana Kofi Archer presents two striking portraits of women from the Konkomba Tribe of Northern Ghana. The Konkombas trace their origins to Burkina Faso, with a history rooted in animism and ancestral worship. Though Christianity and Islam have made inroads, traditional beliefs persist. They speak the Konkomba language, central to their identity, and their society is organized around clans. The portraits beautifully capture their traditional attire, pride, and strength.
