FRANCIS SAMPSON (b.1964, Ghanaian)

For the exhibition, Francis aimed to depict traditional life inspired by his hometown, Cape Coast, known for its rich cultural heritage and historical significance. Cape Coast, a hub of the transatlantic slave trade, is home to the Fante people, whose vibrant culture includes festivals like Fetu Afahye. Renowned for crafts like pottery, the area also hosts the University of Cape Coast. Francis’s work, with its vibrant colors and detail, captures the spirit and resilience of Cape Coast.
