Description

A kidney-shaped gun-bearer’s cap (krobonkye) moulded from one piece of antelope hide, blackened on the outside, and embellished with alternating strips of sheet silver and gold in the shape of leaves (aya) decorated with repoussé-work. The strips radiate outwards towards the top of the cap which is embellished with a circular gold repoussé rosette. The metalwork is attached to the leather by lengths of gold and iron wire which are threaded through holes and fastened by twisting the ends together on the inside of the cap.
